Web portal Fashion Net, the first fashion site on the world wide web, launched from Paris, France in early 1995.[1]

The first time fashion on the Internet was covered in a major fashion magazine was when Woody Hochswender wrote about Fashion Net in Harper's Bazaar's tongue-in-cheek "Pins & Needles" in July 1995.[2] Fashion Net later appeared in Vogue (magazine),[3] The Guardian,[4] Time (magazine),[5] The New York Times[6] and Entertainment Weekly.[7]

In 2006, Fashion Net was featured on Click (TV programme)[8] by Technology journalism Kate Russell.[9]

In 2015, Fashion Net selected the nominees and winners of the first annual Fashion Net Awards; in 2016, executive members at the Academy of Fashion Arts and Sciences selected the nominees and winners of the second annual Fashion Net Awards.[10]

Articles in the web portal's "how to" section and job offers in the former "job listings" area are referenced at several major educational institutions.[11][12]
