Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. was a company that owned both Dr Pepper and 7 Up after the two companies merged in 1986. By 1995, the company had become debt-ridden and insolvent, and was purchased by Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages (CSAB) and the Carlyle Group. Cadbury Schweppes demerged its beverage properties in 2008 to form the Dr Pepper Snapple Group, which merged with coffee manufacturer Keurig Green Mountain on July 9, 2018 to form Keurig Dr Pepper.[1]

The Dr Pepper brand is licensed to either PepsiCo, the Coca-Cola Company or independent bottlers in various regions of the United States. In other countries, Dr Pepper is distributed by PepsiCo in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Poland, by Cadbury Schweppes in Mexico and most of Europe, and by Coca-Cola in the rest of the world, all under license from Keurig Dr Pepper. The 7 Up brand is distributed by Keurig Dr Pepper in the United States and by PepsiCo in the rest of the world.
