Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a famous Disney animated movie adapted in 1937 from a German medieval fairytale of the same name, and is the very fist full-lenght animated feature ever, making America the precursor of a new genre in cinema history. It has become a classic and depicts the story of a beautiful young princess and forced to flee from a murderous jealous queen also expert in witchcraft who was once the most physically beautiful in the land. She lives with dwarves in the woods, but the queen still pursues her. The movie is a mix of musical, romance, comedy and horror as well as having a sad part and then a happy ending. As with many family movies of that era, it's a good against evil setup, with good triumphing. Much like many other fairytales adapted by Disney from pre-existing works, it has both similarities and differences to the original source material, and much like many Disney movies, even from Walt and post-Walt eras, this movie became even more famous and iconic than the original story from which it was adapted. The film also shows the very first case of divine punishment in the history of animation, represented by the death of Grimhilde, the Evil Queen. Other successive cases of divine punishments in Disney animation are Chernabog in Fantasia and Claude Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. ## Characteristics of the Seven Dwarfs[edit] Name | Tunic | Cap | Disposition | Paradox | | | | Dopey | lime green | purple | youngest, sweetest, and silliest | actually quite clever at getting near Snow White Grumpy | red | | grouchiest and most curmudgeonly; opposes letting Snow White stay | leads drive to save Snow White when others gave up Doc | orange-brown | | the only one of the dwarfs to wear glasses (so presumably the most intellectual) | talks in Spoonerisms when nervous Happy | brownish two-tone | yellow | the most rotund of the dwarfs | sad all the same after Snow White eat the apple and "dies" Bashful | purple | magenta | inclined to turning red and saying "Oh, Gosh!" | boldly asks for a 'love story' Sneezy | yellow-brown | | sneezing on smell | Sleepy | brownish | green | yawning and blowing away a fly most of the time | alertly figures out that forest animals are warning that "the old Queen's got Snow White."
