The General Intelligent Design Model (GID-model or simply GID) is an interpretation of the General Grand Unification Model (GGU-model) - a mathematical model - constructed by Dr. Robert A. Herrmann. The research started in August 1979 and the modern mathematical theory used for the modeling processes is obtained via nonstandard analysis. Unlike Restricted Intelligent Design which studies design and intelligence is only inferred by comparison with a few human designs, the GID-model defines intelligence and shows, by direct evidence, that each physical process and each physical result produced by each process is intelligently designed.

General grand unification model

Main Article: General grand unification model

The GGU-model describes a cosmogony and is the first scientific General Theory of Everything. Since it uses a physical language, it is physical in character and can be considered as depicting a complex environment in which universes are embedded. It satisfies all the requirements for a physical-science theory. It is predictive, testable and falsifiable. The model uses mathematical operators (functions) not only to represent (i.e. mimic) all of the known physical processes within our universe, including quantum physical, but certain operators also represent processes that generate universes.

Operators are applied to mathematical objects called event sequences. Event sequences model, in compressed form, the step-by-step development of a universe and each natural-system (physical-system) contained therein. The model unifies the production of and alterations in the behavior of each natural-system within a universe. This unification is accomplished by application of the mathematically defined consequence operator as well as application of the finite choice, finite order choice and finite combination operators. The names of these last three listed operators indicate the intuitive notions abstracted. The basic model predicts that all of these physical results are accomplished by use of subparticles that exist within a substratum or background universe.

Intelligence

Intelligence is characterized by the basic consequence operator axioms as well as an equivalent general logic-system algorithm that characterize the basic aspects of logical scientific discourse. The operators designated as finite choice, finite ordered choice and finite combinations are used to model similar human practices. The finite combinations operator models the process of combining simple objects in order to form a more complex one. The standard operator H models the informal logic used to construct the GGU-model. These operators are all interpreted as intelligent agents. These definitions yield two types of intelligent agents. First, there are the standard modes of intelligence exhibited by human beings as modeled by the standard operators. Then each of the standard operations is viewed via nonstandard analysis where each is automatically associated with a nonstandard operator. By comparison with the standard properties, these nonstandard operators satisfy the requirements for a higher intelligence. These operators all have many other properties and, when appropriate, the aspects that satisfy the standard (resp. nonstandard) intelligent agent characteristics are termed as the operator's ID (resp. HID)-signature.

General intelligent design model

The GID-model (GID) uses the above "intelligence" interpretation and the language of intelligent agency to describe the GGU-model. It is established that the methods, the physical processes themselves, that produce or alter the behavior of a physical-system and the production of and alterations in the behavior of a physical-system are intelligently designed. The "design" being considered is the verbal form "to design" and not the nounal form. Each intelligent agent is design by a higher intelligence. Each standard intelligent agency carries both an ID and HID-signature. Any randomly produced quantum physical event is obtained via intelligent agency with an observable ID-signature. However, the occurrence of such events is guided probabilistically by a higher intelligence that carries only an HID-signature. Direct evidence for the acceptance of the GID interpretation is composed of the verified results produced by finite combinations of accepted physical laws and physical-science theories. In its most general form, the GID-model states that a higher intelligence designs universes and designed each physical-system within each universe and continues to guide all alterations in the behavior of each physical-system within a designed universe. The GID-model satisfies many philosophic statements relative to design within our universe. This includes the statement attributed to Nobel Laurent Louis De Broglie, "Our universe has something in common with the workings of the human mind." As with all such interpretations, not accepting the rationally obtained GID-model does not negate the GGU-model as a viable scientific cosmogony.

Theology

The GID-model can be used to model numerously many theological notions. For example, the higher intelligence being modeled satisfies the statements that characterize the methods used and the attributes of God as they are described in the Bible. Relative to generated cosmologies, there are event sequences that generate a universe, as observed today, in the exact manner as described within Genesis 1 when the verses are strictly interpreted. That is, it models the strict six-day creation events. Further, GGU-model processes can be used to produce a global Flood that does not contradict any present-day evidence.
