Filippo Brunelleschi (1377 – 1446) was an Italian architect and sculptor. Brunelleschi also designed the duomo (dome) for the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral, a breakthrough in engineering and architecture that showed Brunelleschi's deep understanding of mathematics.
