Vithya Visvendra is a Sri Lankan Tamil Hair and Makeup artist, who has made a name for herself within the South Asian Community.
Of Sri Lankan heritage, Vithya was born in Maligatthidal, Mannar, Sri Lanka on 25th July 1984. She and her family took refuge the same year and left for Germany after the Civil War [1] broke out in Sri Lanka.
Shortly after graduating in 2008 in BSc Honours Degree in Biology and Psychology for, Vithya attended London College of Fashion of the University of the Arts London in 2009 and completed a one year ABC Diploma in Hair and Makeup styling for a Fashion.[2] and called UK’s most popular Tamil Makeup Artist [3] and then later become an international sensation.
She has worked with many South Indian movie stars including Meena on the Cover of WE Magazine [4], Vidyullekha Raman [5], others include Nayanthara on the movie Nanbenda as a Production Assistant, star couple Sneha and Prasanna for the Swayamvara Wedding Exhibition, Amy Jackson for the Music Video Lak Hilaade with Manj Musik, Silambarasan for a small scene in the Movie Inga Enna Solluthu, Director P. Bharathiraja for a test shoot, TV host DD Dhivyadharshini for Vijay Television Awards in London, Bigg Boss Tamil star Raiza Wilson, and the music sensation Anirudh, among others.
Her most popular video, a Saree draping tutorial, has amassed over 6 million views [6] [7]
Her work has been published in UK’s top Asian Bridal Magazine KHUSH [8] [9], Daily Mirror Sri Lanka and India’s Magazines Manamagal, Verve Indian magazine,[10] Deccan Chronicle, and beauty articles for The Klog [11]
Having an interest in Music, Vithya appeared on her first Music Video as the lead with German Rapper Majoe for the song Chellam that was shot in Genoa, Italy.[12] [13] The success of the song made Banger Music Records got Vithya on board again. Vithya sang and acted in their second debut with Majoe, Vertau Mir, which was shot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia[14]
Vithya is a spokesperson who openly discusses issues around mental health[15] and other matters faced within the South Asian community. She initially shared these on her blog page, which was then published by Huffington Post Canada, and made the front page on South Asian Generation Next [16]
