The New English Bible (NEB) is a translation of the Bible into modern English. The New Testament was published in 1961, and the Old Testament (and complete Bible) in 1970. The NEB was a project of the major Protestant denominations and Bible societies in England. Considered one of the more important modern English translations at the time of its publication, especially in the U.K., it has today been replaced by the Revised English Bible, a 1989 revision of the NEB which unlike the NEB uses "gender-neutral" language. The New English Bible should not be confused with the New English Translation of 2005, which is an entirely different translation. ## See also[edit] * Analysis of New English Bible v • d • e Bible Versions 21st Century| English Standard Version • Holman Christian Standard Bible • 20th Century| Amplified Bible • American Standard Version • Biblia Hebraica • Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia • Confraternity Bible • Cotton Patch Version • Good News Bible • Hebraic Roots Bible • Jerusalem Bible • Living Bible • The Message • New American Bible • New American Standard Bible • New English Bible • New Jerusalem Bible • New King James Version • New Revised Standard Version • New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures • New International Version • Revised English Bible • Revised Standard Version • 19th and 18th Century| Douay-Rheims • Inspired Version • 17th, 16th, 15th Centuries| Geneva Bible • King James Version • Gutenberg Bible • Tyndale Bible • Ancient| Septuagint • Vulgate •
