Ralph R. Debbas (born 1988) is a Middle Eastern automotive entrepreneur and businessman best known as the CEO of W Motors, which he founded in 2012. W Motors was the first Arabian sports car manufacturer, making him the first automotive CEO in the Middle East.
Debbas was born in Lebanon in 1988 to a family of industrialists.[1]
Debbas is a honours graduate of Coventry University's automotive design course.[2][3] He had previously studied economics and began to study graphic design at the Lebanon American University before switching to automotive design.[3][4]
Debbas began development of W Motors in 2006,[5] and founded the company in 2012[6] with the launch of the Lykan HyperSport, a project he designed and developed over several years. The Fenyr SuperSport followed with production beginning in 2018.[7] Debbas launched the W Motors consultancy division in 2019, which now makes up 70% of the company's business.
Today, Debbas owns shares of W Motors Automotive Group Holding Limited and is a director.[8] He is the CEO of W Motors S.A.L.[4]
Debbas has often spoken on the future of the transportation industry, particularly the impact of automation and electrification on vehicle ownership and manufacture.
Debbas believes that as electrification of cars becomes widespread and the development of self-driving technology advances, car ownership will decline, to the point were road transport is provided in the same manner as planes. In other words, manufacturers will decline and cars will be owned by providers.ref>Hamdan, Lubna (2019-04-09). "Car brands 'will not exist' in future as shared mobility grows, says W Motors CEO".
