Flatten the curve is a term describing the process to limiting infectious disease from spreading among the population through sheltering in place, social distancing and quarantines. The idea helps prevent a virus overwhelming healthcare systems with patients. People believe once we beat the curve by flattening that life will return to normal. Until there is a vaccine, flattening the curve may only delay the virus spread. Some argue that herd immunity is the only way to stop COVID-19. [1] Herd immunity is the opposite of flattening the curve.
