John Pilger (born 1939) is an Australian left-wing journalist and film-maker who is extremely critical of United States foreign policy and British support for it. He has also criticized his Australia for its treatment of its Aboriginal peoples, and is a supporter of Hugo Chavez.

His documentary "The War On Democracy" echoes anti-American themes first enunciated by Noam Chomsky. A review by the Jamie Russell of the UK's Channel 4 describes the film as a polemic. Russell notes that Pilger's interview with Hugo Chavez reveals his bias.[1]

Notes[edit]

  1. "... he remains stolidly uncritical of the president's more obvious failings like his occasional willingness to bypass parliament." [1]
