Jerome Lester Horwitz (October 22, 1903 – January 18, 1952), better known as Curly Howard, was a Jewish American writer, actor and comedian. His works had an existential bent to them, often making fun of inane and commonplace situations. He often performed with musician Larry Fine and his brother Moe Howard, as the Three Stooges. Howard, whose performing career was ended when he suffered a stroke on the set of the Three Stooges short Half-Wits Holiday on May 6, 1946 and suffered several more strokes in later years as his health declined, died in the Los Angeles suburb of San Gabriel, California from a cerebral hemorrhage on January 18, 1952 at age 48.[1]
