Few, if any, political scientists predicted early on that Donald Trump would win the Republican primary and then would subsequently be elected president of the United States. Furthermore, most pollsters indicated that Trump would lose the election.

Post the 2016 U.S. Presidential election many liberals were in denial that Donald Trump was going to be president of the United States.^[2] Before the election, many liberal media outlets took the line that Donald Trump could not win the Republican primary and could not win the presidential election.^[3]
