Eric Stephen Schmitt is the 43rd (and current) Attorney General of the State of Missouri. He previously served as state senator from the St. Louis metropolitan area and as Missouri State Treasurer, before succeeding current U.S. Senator Josh Hawley as attorney general in 2019. A conservative Republican who supported the efforts of President Donald Trump to expose and defeat the voter fraud that occurred in the 2020 presidential election, Schmitt is the GOP nominee for the 2022 Senate election in Missouri, replacing outgoing Senator Roy Blunt.
