Thunderbird can also support both POP and IMAP e-mail connections—simultaneously, if desired. Also, similar to Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird offers addons to customize functionality.[1] ## Compatibility[edit] As of version 31.0, Thunderbird supports Windows XP SP2 and above, Mac OS X 10.6 through OS X 10.9, and most Linux systems.[2] Thunderbird is currently available in 53 different languages, as well.[3] ## History[edit] Thunderbird's first (beta) release took place on July 28, 2003. Version 1.0 was officially released in December of the next year.[4] Development continued for a number of years, until July 6, 2012.
