Greg Loughran (born 12 May 1983) is a Northern Irish former mixed martial artist.[1]
From a rural area outside Magherafelt, Loughran got into MMA to get into shape and gain confidence after inactivity following a broken leg sustained playing football. MMA was in its infancy in Northern Ireland; with no other combat sports background, Loughran learnt how to fight in local promotions ran by his coach.[2]
Loughran fought for numerous regional promotions such as Cage Rage Championships and Cage Warriors in the United Kingdom. He also fought in Bellator MMA inaugural event losing to future Bellator and Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.[3] Loughran's most notable wins are against future UFC Ultimate Fighter winners Jonathan Brookins[4] [5] and Norman Parke.[6] [7]
