Christian Lavernier (born in Imperia, 27 July 1979) is an Italian guitarist and composer
Christian Lavernier was born in Imperia, in 1979. He started to play guitar with Mario Senise. He graduated from the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, with the Maestro Paolo Chierici. He attended master classes held by some of the most representative teachers of the international guitar scene including Alirio Díaz, Conrad Ragosnig and David Russell (guitarist). He studied the contemporary repertoire, with Angelo Gilardino and Leo Brouwer.
In 2010 he starts to work on his first composition and in 2016 the first edition of his pieces has been edited.[1]
He makes some collaborations with the world leading composers Azio Corghi and Alberto Colla. Since 2013 he has been working with artists of different genres: Tommy Emmanuel[2], Antonella Ruggero, Sarah Jane Morris (singer)[3], Peter Finger.
In 2014, for the opening concert at the Festival International de Guitarra de Angostura, he performed the Concierto de Aranjuez with the C.D. Bolivar Orchestra.
Christian Lavernier has recorded for several important international radio channels in Italy, Spain[4], England[5], Argentina, France, Venezuela, Russia, Japan, United States, Mexico.
From 2016 he lives in Paris.
In Italy, he works together with the actor Ugo Dighero[6], in “Platero y Yo”[7] by Juan Ramon Jimenez and music by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
In 2016 the Master luthier Carlos Gonzalez Marcos created a new guitar La Soñada (11 strings) imagined and dedicated to Christian Lavernier.
In 2018, starts the new project Contemporary Future based on “La Soñada”. The project involved some great Italian and international composers (Azio Corghi[8], Angelo Gilardino, Andrea Talmelli, Flores Chaviano, Francesco Iannitti…) who have created several original pieces for this project. In 2019, he released the album Contemporary Future (EMA Vinci) with the first unpublished works for the 11-string instrument “La Soñada”. Ennio Morricone[9] and Azio Corghi sign the prefaces to this album. It obtains the patronage of the SIMC "Italian Contemporary Music Society" and the CIDIM. The SIAE includes it in the series “The Classics of Today”[10] .
In the same year, Christian Lavernier meets Nicola Campogrande and starts to work with him on a new pubblication of «12 Preludi a getto d’inchiostro» re-thoughts for “La Soñada” and edited by the major Universal Music – Ricordi with revision and fingering by Christian Lavernier.
The Universal Music – Ricordi edit also the new composition Redobles y Consonancias dedicated to Christian Lavernier and to “La Soñada” by M° Azio Corghi. Revision and fingering have been entrusted to Lavernier himself.
In 2021 he released the album "Aria" by EMA Vinci. This album contains 10 pieces all composed by Christian Lavernier.
