The Mandate of Palestine, also known as Mandatory Palestine, was a British overseas territory that existed form 1920 to 1948. The capital was Jerusalem. Prior to World War I, the area has been ruled by the Ottomans. The mandate specified that the area would be a "Jewish National Home." The Arabs, who at this time viewed the area as "Southern Syria," protested the mandate.[1] European anti-Semetism and fascism forced many Jews to immigrate to the Mandate in the 1930s and 1940s. The was an Arab revolt against British rule in 1936-1939. In 1947, the United Nations General Assembly voted to partition the Mandate into Jewish and Arab states. Israel was founded by the Yishuv, or Jewish community, in 1948. ## References[edit] 1. ↑ Pipes, Daniel, "The Year the Arabs Discovered Palestine," Middle East Review, Summer, 1989. v • d • e Arab-Israeli conflict Issues & Events| Akram Zuaiter • Anti-Zionist Conspiracy Theories • Arab-Israeli conflict • Arson terror • BDS • Bir Hadaj Arab-Islamic racist rape of 10-years-old girl • Operation Breaking Dawn • B'tselem • Camp David Accords • Criticism of preferential treatment for Israeli Arabs over Jews • Darwish Al-Miqdadi • Dome of the Rock • Falastin • Guardian of Walls • Haaretz • Human shields by terrorists • Intifada • Introduction • Israel • Israel Defense Forces • Israel Apartheid slur • Left-wing Anti-Semitism • Mohamed Anwar Hadid • Munich massacre • Nazih Khatatba • Nazism at Arab Palestinians Pt 2• Oslo Accords • Palestinian • Palestinian child soldiers • Palestinian themed violence under the Biden junta • Pallywood • Raid on Entebbe • Ramallah lynch • Ramming attack (Jerusalem February 2023) • Six-Day War • Suez Crisis • Suicide Bombing • West Bank • Yom Kippur War • 1929 Hebron massacre • 1948 Israeli War for Independence • 1978-2000 South Lebanon conflict • 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict • 2023 Sabbath Jerusalem Synagogue Massacre People| Mahmoud Abbas • Yasir Arafat • Jimmy Carter • Mufti al-Husseini • Benjamin Netanyahu • Omar Shakir • Ahmad Shukeiri • Rashida Tlaib Organizations & Entities involved| Abu Nidal Organization • Army of Islam • CAIR • Egyptian Islamic Jihad • Fatah • Hamas • Hezbollah • Houthi • Palestinian Authority • Palestine Liberation Front • Palestine Liberation Organization • Palestinian Islamic Jihad • Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine • Quds Force • Red Army Faction
