Dozy Mmobuosi is a Nigerian technology entrepreneur and author. He is the founder and CEO of Tingo International Holdings, Tingo Remit, and NWASSA.[1][2][3][4][5]
Mmobuosi was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He has received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria. He received his Master of Science degree in economics from the same university. He completed his doctorate in rural advancement from Universiti Putra Malaysia, in Malaysia.[6]
Mmobuosi and his father co-founded Tingo Mobile, formerly Fair Deal, in January 2001.[1][7] In 2003, he founded Naijafans, a social media connectivity platform. He is the founder of Tingo Remit, a money transfer and healthcare gifting platform.[8][9][10][11] In January 2019, he founded Africa’s first agricultural technology and digital platform named Nwassa.[12][13][14][15][2][16] Nwassa provides farmers with weather forecasts, payment systems, information on market prices and situation, and access to other service providers.[12][17][18][19][20] Nwassa and Tingopay has registered 14.7 million farmers and agri-businesses.[21]
On April 29, 2020, he published the book titled Wounded Pride. In the book, he has written about the Boko Haram insurgency.[22]
Tingo Mobile allegedly issued defective pay cheques to the company vendors in 2017. The dispute was resolved through arbitration after the company released a public statement explaining that cheques were stopped because the company suspected an under-supply of automotive gas oil.[23]
