[edit intro] (CC) Image: George Swan Orthographic projection over Arctic Bay, Nunavut. Arctic Bay is a community on the Northern end of Baffin Island, in Nunavut, Canada.[1] Approximately 700 people live in Arctic Bay. The community is near the lead-zinc mine at Nanisivik, which closed in 2002.[2][3] The CBC News reports that Defence officials have stated that inhabitants of Arctic Bay will play a role in the construction of a new Naval Base around the old port facilities at Nanisivik.[4] On July 1st every year Arctic Bay hosts a Midnight Sun Marathon.[5] ## References[edit] 1. ↑ Erin Pratley.
