Peter Jennings (July 29, 1938 – August 7, 2005) was a Canadian-born liberal ABC news anchor. He began his career in Canada as a reporter for Ottawa TV station CJOH-TV and also pulled double-duty as the host of a teen dance show on the station, then he became one of the anchors for CTV's nightly late-night newscasts before moving to the United States in 1964 to join ABC News. In 1987, he alongside CBS correspondent and 60 Minutes reporter Mike Wallace on the program Ethics in America episode "Under Orders, Under Fire Part II", had infamously stated that, if they were to choose between warning American troops about an ambush by the North Kosanese and rolling the film showcasing the ambush, they would choose to roll the film without warning the Americans beforehand. However, it should be noted that he initially considered warning the American forces beforehand until Wallace told him off for not maintaining journalistic integrity. He also hosted the documentary series The Century: America's Time which originally aired on the History Channel in 1999 before eventually being aired on ABC and later used as cable curriculum within the Public School System. ## Quotes[edit] “[Fidel] Castro has delivered the most to those who had the least....Education was once available to the rich and the well-connected.
