His mother, Silvia Scardaccione, was the daughter of Giuseppe Scardaccione di Sant'Arcangelo. To the same family belonged Decio Scardaccione, brother of his mother, economist, agronomist and university professor, as well as one of the leading Lucanian exponents of Christian Democracy; Morlino had a close relationship with him throughout his political career. He graduated in law and political science and in 1948 he entered the roles of the State Advocacy, where he covered his entire career, until he became, in 1951, Deputy Advocate General.[1] ## Political career[edit] He was Senator of the Republic from 1968 until his death, in 1983. He also served as Undersecretary for the Budget from 1973 to 1974, Minister for Regional affairs from 1974 to 1976, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning from 1976 to 1979, Minister of Justice from 1979 to 1980 and President of the Senate from 1982 to 1983. In the Christian Democracy, Morlino was a Moroteo, that is a member of the faction headed by Aldo Moro. ## References[edit] 1. ^ MORLINO, Tommaso in "Dizionario Biografico" Political offices Preceded by Mario Toros | Minister of Regional Affairs 1974–1976 | Succeeded by Roberto Mazzotta Preceded by Giulio Andreotti | Minister of Budget 1976–1979 | Succeeded by Ugo La Malfa Preceded by Francesco Paolo Bonifacio | Minister of Grace and Justice 1979–1980 | Succeeded by Adolfo Sarti Preceded by Amintore Fanfani | President of the Italian Senate 1982–1983 | Succeeded by Vittorino Colombo * v * t * e Presidents of Italian Senate Kingdom of Italy| * Coller * Manno * Alfieri di Sostegno * Settimo * Sclopis * Casati * Fardella di Torrearsa * Ambrois * Pasolini * Tecchio * Durando * Farini * Saracco * Canonico * Manfredi * Bonasi * Tittoni * Federzoni * Suardo * Thaon di Revel * Tomasi Della Torretta Italian Republic| * Bonomi * De Nicola * Paratore * Ruini * Merzagora * Zelioli-Lanzini * Fanfani * Spagnolli * Fanfani * Morlino * Colombo * Cossiga * Fanfani * Malagodi * Spadolini * Scognamiglio Pasini * Mancino * Pera * Marini * Schifani * Grasso * Casellati * La Russa * v * t * e Italian Senators from Lombardy Christian Democracy| * Ajroldi * Amigoni * Bareggi * Bellora * Belotti * Bettoni * Buizza * Celasco * Cemmi * Cenini * Colleoni * Corbellini * Cornaggia * Corti * Dell'Amore * De Zan * Donati * Fada * Falck * Lombardi * Longoni * Martinelli * Mazzoli * Mentasti * Montini * Morlino * Pajetta * Perini * Pezzini * Piccioni * Rosati * Roselli * Samek Lodovici * Santero * Spallino * Terragni * Turani * Valsecchi A. * Valsecchi P. * Vanoni * Zane * Zelioli * Zenti * Zonca * Zugno Communist Party| * Abbiati * Aimoni * Alberganti * Banfi * Bartesaghi * Bera * Brambilla * Colombi * Farina * Gavina * Gombi * Lombardi * Maris * Menotti * Montagnani * Piovano * Scotti * Vergani * Zanardi Socialist Party| * Amoletti * Arnaudi * Banfi * Bonafini * Caleffi * Canziani * Cortese * Darè * Ferragni * Grampa * Greppi * Locatelli * Mariani * Marzola * Morandi * Negri * Roda * Romagnoli * Torelli * Zanoni Republican Party| * Boeri * Bergmann Democratic Socialist Party| * Canevari * Faravelli * Gonzales * Lami Starnuti * Morino * Savio * Viglianesi Italian Social Movement| * Marina * Nencioni Liberal Party| * Alcidi Boccacci * Bergamasco * Coppi * Grassi * Palumbo Monarchist National Party| * Gazzale * Terragni Leftists| * Sinforiani Independents| * Merzagora * v * t * e Andreotti III Cabinet (1976–78) * De Mita * Forlani * Cossiga * Bonifacio * Morlino * Pandolfi * Stammati * Vito Lattanzio/Ruffini * Malfatti * Gullotti * Marcora * Ruffini/Lattanzio * Colombo * Donat-Cattin * Dal Falco * Ossola * Colombo (interim) * Bisaglia * Anselmi * Pedini * Antoniozzi * v * t * e Andreotti IV Cabinet (1978–79) * De Mita * Forlani * Cossiga/Andreotti (interim)/Rognoni * Bonifacio * Morlino * Malfatti * Pandolfi * Ruffini * Pedini * Stammati * Marcora * Colombo * Gullotti * Donat-Cattin/Prodi * Anselmi * Ossola * Colombo (interim) * Bisaglia * Scotti * Antoniozzi * Pastorino * v * t * e Andreotti V Cabinet (March–August 1979) * Di Giesi * Forlani * Rognoni * Morlino * La Malfa/Visentini * Malfatti * Pandolfi * Ruffini * Spadolini * Compagna * Marcora * Preti * Colombo * Nicolazzi * Anselmi * Preti (interim) * Bisaglia * Scotti * Antoniozzi * Ariosto * v * t * e Cossiga I Cabinet (1979–80) * Scalia * Giannini * Di Giesi * Sarti/Darida * Malfatti/Ruffini * Rognoni * Morlino * Andreatta * Reviglio * Pandolfi * Ruffini/Sarti * Valitutti * Nicolazzi * Marcora * Preti * Colombo * Bisaglia * Altissimo * Stammati * Evangelisti/Signorello * Lombardini * Scotti * Ariosto * D'Arezzo * v * t * e Cossiga II Cabinet (1980) * Russo * Balzamo * Scotti * Giannini * Capria * Gaspari * Colombo * Rognoni * Morlino * La Malfa * Reviglio * Pandolfi * Lagorio * Sarti * Compagna * Marcora * Formica * Darida * Bisaglia * Aniasi * Manca * Signorello * De Michelis * Foschi * Biasini * D'Arezzo Authority control General| * ISNI * 1 * VIAF * 1 * WorldCat National libraries| * France (data) * United States * Vatican Other| * SUDOC (France) * 1 *[v]: View this template *[t]: Discuss this template *[e]: Edit this template
